SWATI & SUNAINA GOLD
Vaari (Yellow)
Woven in mulberry silk and silver zari of 98.5% purity and electroplated with 24 carat gold, the design for this saree draws inspiration from ‘Haashiya’, the hand painted borders in miniature paintings of Persian origin.
Zari formed an integral part of royal Indian textiles in construction of textiles and for decorative purposes. When zari was used in the construction of the textile as warp, the textile was called tissue. This textile had such a rare luminescent, candescent, reflective and glistening quality that it was equated with the morning dew drops catching first rays of the sun.
This saree is woven in ‘Tissue’ using a unique technique called ‘kariyal’. This technique of weaving allows for the body of the saree to be tissue while the border is silk. The border of this saree is intricately woven in a miniature scale of design. This fine scale of weaving could only be accomplished by only a few weavers possessing rare skill.
Only natural fibers and Eco-friendly dyes have been used in the production of the saree.Colour
